I’m Turning 40 in Four Days

2–3 minutes

Or Another Selfie-Saturday

Hello My Glorious Readers!

It’s has been a few months since I last reached out to you. I had to take a break for personal reasons, but I am hoping to be back now.

I’ve decided to change up the way I run this blog. Previously, I had a lot of advice columns, which was fine, but I found it to be a bit repetitive and bland.

I am a weird, smart, talented, funny, gorgeous lady. It is time for me to embrace it and display it to the world.

So, I’m turning 40 in four days. Part of me is excited about entering the new chapter of my life, but part of me sees that this is the halfway point in my life, and it is time to make some big changes.

One of those changes is taking better care of my skin. Who knew that forty was the magic number that would change my skin into a super-freckly nightmare. Suddenly I have hyperpigmentation that I had never noticed before, but if I look back at old, non-filtered, pictures of me, I can see that it has been there the whole time. I’m starting to think that forty is just when you notice how bad you are falling apart.

Anyway, I have started, or rather restarted my skin care routine. I have a nice cleanser in my shower as well as lotions and potions to combat the damage the sun has wrought on my skin. Speaking of the sun, I am finally listening to my doctor and staying covered up. I am photosensitive and will turn pink and add more freckles if I’m not careful.

I also try to never leave the house without my big, floppy sun hat. It is a little small on the band and I have to wear it sideways to be able to see where I am going, but I am grateful for it just the same.

In other news, my garden is exploding with snapdragons, and I couldn’t be happier. My husband and I planted 5000 snapdragon seeds and now our yard is overgrown with them. Spring has been very kind to me.

In addition to the snapdragons, we also planted a crazy daisy. It is pictured in the bottom right of the gallery above. They are interesting little flowers. They do not always bloom and then wilt. They open and close like morning glories. So far, I have been lucky enough to see two in bloom. It was a rapid thing. By the time I turned around, it was closed again. It is definitely a crazy daisy.

I hope sincerely that you are well, my dear friend. I have missed talking to you. I hope you will forgive my absence and that we can move forward with open hearts and minds.
