Momtivational Monday!

2–3 minutes

Greetings, dear readers!

Today, I want to share a secret with you all – the secret of saving money by embracing the art of making things at home. It’s a journey I’ve embarked on, and it has not only enriched my life but also my wallet!

We live in a world where convenience is king. But what if I told you that by giving up just a little bit of this convenience, you could save big money? It’s true! I’ve experimented with a few things and it has really sparked my curiosity to make more! So far I have tried: making laundry soap, my clothes are cleaner and the stuff lasts forever. Bread, making bread from scratch can be a challenge. I have made dessert breads, like pumpkin, Native American Fry Bread, a challah loaf, and traditional sandwich bread. This week, I tried my hand at mayo with delicious results. Since our lemon tree EXPLODED with lemons this year, we have started making lemonade instead of buying juice at the store. I can control how much sugar and the ingredients that are in our juice too! Additionally, I have started making all our meals at home as traditionally as possible. The savings are real, and the satisfaction is even greater.

But why stop there? Let’s explore other easy-to-make items that can further boost your budget and your creativity:

  1. Cleaning Products: From glass cleaners to disinfectants, homemade cleaning solutions are not only cheaper but also eco-friendly.
  2. Beauty Products: Think of lip balms, body scrubs, and even shampoo. Natural, homemade beauty products can be tailored to your specific needs and are often kinder to your skin.
  3. Snacks and Condiments: Granola bars, pickles, jams, and even cheese can be made at home with a fraction of the cost and double the flavor.
  4. Gardening: Grow your herbs and vegetables. It’s therapeutic and cost-effective. Plus, nothing beats the taste of home-grown produce!
  5. Sewing and Repairs: Learning basic sewing for mending clothes or making simple items like tote bags and aprons can save you a trip to the store (and some cash).
  6. Gifts: Handmade gifts like candles, knitted scarves, or baked goods carry a personal touch that no store-bought item can match.

So, let’s roll up our sleeves, and get creative! Save money, reduce waste, and add that personal touch to your daily life. Here’s to making more and spending less!

As always, my friends, enjoy the GLO!
