Welcome back My Cherished Readers,
As the cold winter months approach and we start to mind our health and skin just a bit more, it’s the perfect time to share the story of my husband and my venture into dry brushing—a tale of weight loss, skin transformation, and self-care.

*Remember: I am not a doctor. Always consult your doctor before beginning any new weight loss or health regimen. Do your own research and make informed decisions. You are your best advocate. This post reflects our experience, yours may differ.
We’re headed into my bathroom today for a deep dive into personal care routines. So, let me ask you, how much do you spend on body care products? Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo, and hair repair products, are a niche market in the beauty industry, are full of gross chemicals, and range from the cheap stuff to hundreds of dollars depending on what brand you use and what chemicals you don’t mind using. Think: there is currently a class-action lawsuit against makers of Aerosol Dry Shampoo for containing Benzine. No Thanks!

What if I told you that my husband stopped using any soap products in February 2023? He doesn’t smell, he has radiant skin, and is enjoying an amazing transformation of his body and his hair.
Additionally, as I tackle my weight loss journey, I don’t suffer from sagging skin. My stretch marks have faded, and my pain from my autoimmune disease in my hands and feet decreases dramatically.
What is our secret? Dry Brushing.

So, here’s to another day where we share in the delight of simple, transformative self-care rituals. Today, let’s bask in the radiance of a practice that’s both ancient and timely: dry brushing.
Let’s brush up on the why, the how, and the stunning effects of this wellness gem.
The Science and Sensuality of Dry Brushing
In the quiet of your morning or the calm of your evening, imagine a ritual that not only revitalizes your skin but also reconnects you to your body’s vibrant energy. Dry brushing is that ritual. It’s a scientific and sensory journey that begins with a firm, natural-bristle brush and leads to a luminous GLO.

Here’s why it’s a staple in our health arsenal:
Circulatory Cornerstone: Your skin is your largest organ-so stimulate it! Dry brushing is like a wake-up call for your blood vessels. The brisk strokes invigorate your blood flow, sending oxygen-rich blood to your skin, and wake up your body’s detox pathways. Just be careful on thin or delicate skin, and never dry brush on open wounds. Gentle circular strokes from your feet to your heart are all that is required.
Lymphatic Love: Your lymphatic system is your body’s unsung hero, quietly cleanses away toxins. Dry brushing gives this system a helping hand, encouraging the natural detoxification that keeps you feeling fresh and lively.
Skin’s Youthful Secret: As the brush sweeps across your skin, it whispers away dead cells, revealing the soft, smooth skin beneath. This exfoliation is crucial for skin renewal, and it’s incredibly effective during weight loss, as it helped maintain my skin’s elasticity.

Do you have darker skin in your underarms, or on your bikini line? That’s dead skin! With regular gentle dry brushing, you can reduce or even eliminate the darker/thicker skin in these areas over time. Just don’t expect it to happen overnight, and No, harder scrubbing isn’t better. It can damage your skin.
Pain, Begone: For me, dry brushing is an amazing resource that improves the circulation in my most painful areas – my hands and feet. It has become a ritual that brings relief and a sense of healing. It reduces swelling and tenderness too.
Weight and Shape Wonder: I started dry brushing 2020. I immediately noticed and loved how my skin responded. It came alive in a way I couldn’t imagine. My husband was amazed by my results. He eagerly embraced dry brushing in 2021 and waved goodbye to his love handles and stretch marks and ingrown hairs. His hair, too, found a new vigor—no more falling out, just a healthy, enviable sheen. In February 2023, he cut soap out entirely. He gently dry brushes his entire body, face, and hair twice a week.
Embrace the Ritual
Starting this journey is as simple as it is affordable. A decent set of dry brushes can be yours for about $10 and up on Amazon. Choose a round, hand-held brush for general use, and a long-handled one to reach your back if you are dry brushing alone. A set of dry brushes makes a great holiday gift for any loved one on your list.

It doesn’t have to be a solitary experience. Dry brushing can be a ritual shared between partners, a tactile dialogue that speaks in soft strokes and caring caresses—a truly sensual experience. My husband and I enjoy dry brushing each other’s hard to reach areas.
A Note from My Heart to Your Skin
Incorporate dry brushing before your shower for the best effects. Firm, but gentle strokes are all that is required. NO INTENSE SCRUBBING. Cool to tepid water post-brush maintains the skin’s integrity, avoiding the drying impact of hot showers. And when you step out, choose natural body oil to cocoon your skin in natural nourishment. I like vitamin E oil or almond oil.

I invite you to join my husband and I in this loving practice. As you gently brush, imagine each stroke painting a more vital, more vibrant you. May you shed not just skin cells but any doubts of your innate beauty and strength.
Wellness doesn’t have to be complicated or costly—it can be as straightforward as a brush and your own hands, working in harmony for your health.
So, as the days grow shorter and the festive season beckons, let’s not forget to carve out moments for self-care. For in these moments, we find the strength to celebrate, to connect, and to simply be. Here’s to the brush that sweeps away the old and ushers in a renewed GLO.

As always, my friends, enjoy the GLO – it’s not just a light; it’s a promise of renewal and health.
