If you were going to open up a shop, what would you sell?
Easy peasy.
If I were going to open a shop, I’d sell metaphysical items. I would focus on organically harvested apothecary ingredients. Especially things that are easy to find in our area, but hard to find for novice practitioners and city witches. I would open it up to online sales too, that way witches from around the world could benefit from the harvest. It would be so much fun to have a small brick and mortar that doubles as a storefront for an online store.
I would also do bees wax candles in shop. With a creation station to dip your own candles. I would have a pour your own intention station where witches can choose ingredients that resonate for their spell into a spell pot, then fill and fragrance it themselves with a base recipe (think frozen yogurt shoppe, but for candles). The person would be able to choose the type of spell they are looking to cast based on a preset recipe, or be able to deviate and create something unique for a little extra with a set number of ingredients, like say 5 max, for a specific price.
I would also have a section of books for sale so that I could showcase my favorite learning tools. There are some wonderful books out there that are very useful in learning the craft. I would also help people find books they are looking for or books that they can read if their book is no longer in print.
I would probably have a little bit of everything. Tarot decks, and other divination items. Crystals and necessary guides. Athames, and other items for altars. Statues of Gods, Goddesses, symbols. Things that I have made mostly.
I don’t want to be the Walmart of witchcraft. I want to be an artesian of my craft. A bard of my trade, I will sing songs and weave tales so that magic fills my shop and leaves a tingle in the footsteps to draw customers in and welcome them to stay.
I want my shop to be cozy and inviting. I would be very choosy on the location. I would want it to be in a cozy downtown setting near a coffee shop or bakery. I might even sell tea by the cup. Who wouldn’t want a little witches brew? This witch makes a mean cup of tea. Use your tea to set an intention and you have yourself a great day!
I probably have too many directions that I am pulling myself in. In the mean time, I will continue to focus on my garden and my herbs. Eventually, I’ll start having decent harvests, then I can start on this business plan for real. 😁
